About

Iris Kiewiet is a Dutch-Canadian artist working and living in Wakefield QC. The natural environment moves her art and collaborations, bringing awareness to the relationship with the land and one another.

Iris Kiewiet has worked for Dutch newspapers, publishers and magazines before immigrating to Canada. Recent projects are a mural for the Stroke Rehabilitation Program at Bruyere Hospital in Ottawa; Spirit Beading, a community beading workshop for Out Loud by STO Union at WCC; a mural at the Wakefield Spring which was painted on location as part of Up Close or Nearby; multiple art projects for schools through ELAN Artist Inspire and independently.

Recently Kiewiet participated in an artist Residency at BAI Berlin Germany where both the painting tradition and social impact art were in focus. Her paintings evolve in layers and reflect on presence and beauty. In social art the focus is on creating a collective space for expression and finding common threads.
